Christmas is over and the New Year is approaching, but that doesn't mean the New York Yankees are done delivering holiday cheer to their fans. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman this offseason is sitting down big-name players on his lap and asking them, why do you want to come play for the Bronx Bombers in 2018? It seems like every available player is connected in some way or another with the Yankees.

Gerrit Cole Latest
The saga of will Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Gerrit Cole be in Pinstripes in 2018 continues. Kristie Ackert and Bill Madden of the New York Post said, they believe, the Pirates could center a deal around outfielder Clint Frazier and righthander Chance Adams could be included, as well as third base prospect Miguel Andujar. Fraizer is 23 years-old and hit .231 with four home runs and drove in 17 RBIs in 39 games. Adams is the Yankees fourth best prospect while Andujar is the Yankees fifth-best prospect.
A new name that has surfaced in a possible deal for Cole also involves Pirates second baseman, Josh Harrison. Last season, Harrison hit .272 with 16 home run, 47 RBIs, and scored 66 runs in 128 games.
Yankees Make Offer For Michael Fulmer
According to Bill Brink the Yankees made a trade offer for Detroit Tigers pitcher Michael Fulmer. Fulmer is 24-years-old and won the AL Rookie of the Year in 2016 so it's no surprise to see the Tigers turn down the offer. \
Sources of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette said the Yankees offered packages of prospects and young players similar to what was being offered to the Pirates for Cole.
Fulmer in 2017 record 164.2 innings pitched and held a 10-12 record with a 3.83 ERA.
Improving or Protecting?
New York's offseason moves have shown that the Yankees are in win now mode, that doesn't mean they have forgotten about their farm systems. On Friday, the Yankees signed two promising prospects, Venezuelan outfielder Raimfer Salinas and catcher Antonio Cabello. Salinas is smaller in stature player with great speed, covering a ton of ground in the outfield. Cabello is only 17 years old with great patience at the plate and an above average arm behind the dish.
With the signings of both Salinas and Cabello, the Yankees now have six of Baseball America’s top-30 international prospects from this year’s class.
The signings are interesting considering all the trade talks the Yankees have been involved with this offseason. Could they be extra pieces to a possible trade for another big name player since shortstop Gleyber Torres is not on the trading block?
