The New York Yankees already landed the biggest prize of the offseason on Saturday in Giancarlo Stanton, who they are acquiring in a trade with the Miami Marlins. But that's far from the only move the Yankees will make this offseason. With winter meetings here, there are several Yankees rumors out there on potential signings and trades.
Trading Jacoby Ellsbury
Getting Giancarlo Stanton was a no-brainer for the Yankees, especially considering what the Yankees gave up. But with Stanton in New York, it does create a bit of a log-jam. So, the New York Post expects the Yankees to look into trading OF Jacoby Ellsbury.
"The addition of Stanton gives the Yankees five outfielders for three spots," George A. King III of the Post writes. "The DH will be rotated among the outfielders but there remains one too many. So, expect Cashman to try and find a team to take center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury even if the Yankees have to eat a lot of the $68.3 million remaining on his contract that has three years left."
Dealing away the 34-year-old Ellsbury will free up space in the Yankees loaded OF. His salary is an issue, and although Ellsbury might not be the same player he was in Boston, he still has value.
Interest In Alex Cobb
The Yankees want more starting pitching and they have interest in adding Alex Cobb.
Cubs seem focused on alex cobb for last rotation spot at present. Cobb and cubs pitching coach jim hickey are very close from TB. Among others eying cobb: rangers, yanks, jays, o’s. Popular with al east teams.

Cobb was solid last year, posting a 3.66 ERA and a 1.221 WHIP in a career-high 179.1 innings of work. For his career (which has featured injuries), Cobb has a posted a 3.50 ERA and a 1.217 WHIP.
Re-Signing C.C. Sabathia
The Yankees are still looking for pitching help and even if they land someone like Alex Cobb, re-signing C.C. Sabathia is high on their priorities list. Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports the Yankees want to add multiple SPs, with Sabathia one of them. King III, has even more details. He reports Sabathia could get a one-year deal worth somewhere between $10 million and $12 million.
