Gerrit Cole Traded
The Houston Astros acquired Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Gerrit Cole for pitcher Joe Musgrove, pitcher Michael Feliz, third baseman Colin Moran and outfielder Jason Martin.
Cole, who had been linked to New York for the past month, was originally reported to be dealt to Houston earlier in the week, but hit a snag and had gone quiet in recent days.
Cole is coming off the worst season of his career - 12-12 with a 4.26 ERA in 33 starts - but has the upside to be a reliable front-end starting pitcher.
Brian Cashman Interested In Yu Darvish
The Yankees never pulled the trigger on Cole and now have their eyes set on free agent pitcher Yu Darvish. John Harper of the New York Daily News reported on Sunday that general manager Brian Cashman's interest in Darvish "is very real." According to Harper, the Yankees think they could sign Darvish to a five-year deal worth between $80 and $90 million.
The Yankees haven't made an offer to Darvish yet - at least that's what Darvish said on Twitter.
The 31-year-old had a 3.86 ERA over 186.2 innings pitched with 209 strikeouts and 58 walks with the Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Dodgers last season.

Sonny Gray Avoids Arbitration
The Yankees and pitcher Sonny Gray were able to avoid arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $6.5 million contract. Gray will be a major factor in the Yankees rotation this season.
In his 27 outings last season for the Oakland Athletics and Yankees, he posted a 3.55 ERA with a record of 10-12.
