The New York Yankees have been making trades in order to clear more room under the luxury tax threshold ($197 million to give them a better opportunity to pursue a top-end starting pitcher or third baseman on the open market.
One option the Yankees are exploring with that space is the possibility re-signing Todd Frazier - but for the right price. According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, New York is willing to offer him a one-year deal worth between $10 million and $12 million.
The Yankees seem to be considering the same quartet of infielders the Mets are considering: Todd Frazier, Neil Walker, Eduardo Nunez and Josh Harrison. Both the Yankees and Mets are looking at filling one of second base or third base. Frazier may be the best bet for the Yankees since the Yankees seem more likely to entrust a starting spot with top infield prospect Gleyber Torres than Miguel Andujar. Plus, Yankees people loved Frazier. However, the Yankees would prefer to do a one-year deal, likely in the range of $10 million to $12 million.
New York currently has vacant starting positions at both second and third base, and they have explored making trades to fill both needs. They have since cooled on those pursuits and have had “minimal” contact with free-agent infielders because of their confidence in top prospects Torres and Andujar at the positions.

However, the Yankees would like to have Frazier at third to serve as a bridge and stabilizing force for another year.
Frazier hit .222 with 11 home runs and 32 RBIs in 66 games with the Yankees this season.
