The New York Yankees have expressed interested in signing free-agent relief pitcher Sergio Romo, according to John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle:
Several teams have expressed interest in Sergio Romo. One is the Yankees.

After already signing Aroldis Chapman to the largest deal ever signed by a closer, the Yankees are looking for Romo to be a relatively cheap, late-inning setup man for Chapman.
Romo has spent all of his nine MLB seasons with the Giants, serving as the team's closer from 2012-14 before being moved to the setup role. There is a bit of the injury concern with him, as he missed three months with a flexor strain in his right elbow.
Romo posted a 2.64 ERA with 14 holds and four saves with 33 strikeouts in 30.2 innings last year. He only has two seasons in which he has posted an ERA over three.
