The Yankees rumors have been swirling all offseason and with Opening Day being tomorrow, the New York Yankees are making headlines again. This time it has nothing to with the actual game of baseball though. The MLB warned the Yankees about selling beers featuring players because it violates the league's policy, in which players are banned from promoting alcohol-related products, according to Newsday.
THE EMPIRE: This NEW Yankees Hype Video Is The Best Thing You'll See Today
On Monday the Yankees held a press event showcasing new items for the upcoming season. The novelty that stole the show was a device that can create images into the foam of beer. Senior Editor from The Post Game tweeted out a picture with beer foam that looked like Yankees star players Aaron Judge, Gaby Sanchez, Giancarlo Stanton, and Aroldis Chapman.
Once the MLB caught wind of this idea by the Yankees, they quickly shut it down.
“We were unaware” of the images, a spokesman for MLB told Newsday on Tuesday. “We spoke to the club. The club wasn’t aware, either. To the best of our knowledge, they have told them it’s not authorized, to cease doing it.”
A Yankees spokesperson also added to the conversation about why the Yankees showed off their new ideas.
“Our hospitality team took Monday’s event as an opportunity to test the image machine with various Yankees-related logos and photos. However, the Yankees have no current plans of incorporating this decorative element on concessions items this season.”
The company that makes these machines is called Beer Ripples had any idea that player's images would be produced into the foam of the beer. The Machines that imprints the Yankees logo was originally created for coffee-foam art and Yankees fans will be able to buy coffee with their favorite players, but not beers.
