Manny Machado To The Diamondbacks?
Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports, the Yankees were in contact with the Orioles regarding Machado this week. The Yankees aren't the only team to show interest in Machado recently. Camden Chat reports, the Arizona Diamondbacks are talking to Machado again.
The Orioles haven't released a ton of information regarding Machado, but in a recent summary from MASN writer Roch Kubatko in the Chris Davis interview from Orioles Hot Stove, Kubatko mentions the Diamondbacks "doubled back" with interest on Machado.
The Diamondbacks don't have anywhere close to the overall talent the Yankees do in terms of prospects, but if they are willing to trade their top guys (unlike New York), then Machado going to Arizona may become a real possibility.
Orioles Interested in Jacoby Ellsbury
The Yankees have looked into trading Jacoby Ellsbury this offseason and Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports the Orioles are interested.
Also noted in the article, despite the Orioles interest Ellsbury possesses a full-no trade clause and may waive it only to be close to home in Arizona.
Ellsbury hit .264 with seven home runs and 39 RBIs in 112 games last season.
Justus Sheffield's Future
Justus Sheffield is 21 years old and the Yankees No.3 overall prospect and the No.4 left-handed pitcher in the organization. The young pitching prospect had this to say about his future with the Yankees.
"The way I look at it, I just have to go out there and do my thing," Sheffield told MLB.com at the Rookie Career Development Program in Washington, D.C. "Let the front office handle where they're going to put me and where I'll end up. All I can do is do what I do best and get outs and give my team a chance to win."
He will likely start in Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre where he could grow into an option for the Yankees second half of the season.
