The latest Yankees news coming out of the Bronx is that New York will be without catcher Gary Sanchez for a while. According to Jon Morosi of MLB Network, the Yankees are awaiting results of Sanchez’s MRI, but he will be placed on the disabled list today with a groin injury. Kyle Higashioka will replace him on the active roster.

After the New York Yankees 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday, Yankees manager Aaron Boone spoke about the availability of Sanchez.
"A strained right groin and hip abductor will probably land Sanchez on the disabled list," said Boone.
Sanchez stated that the first time he noticed the discomfort was in the 10th inning when he was trying to beat out a double play ball running to first base. Then he felt a more intense pain in his left leg when he was called out at first. Boone and trainer Steve Donohue walked Sanchez off the field, very gingerly.
Austin Romine took over for Sanchez once he left the game on Sunday and expect Romine to fill in until Sanchez is able to return. Romine is having a solid year hitting.305 with four home runs, 20 RBIs in his 82- at-bats this season. Yankee fans should feel confident in Romine because he also filled in for Sanchez last season and hit .327 with two home runs and 10 RBIs in 18 games.
