New York Yankees pitcher Nathan Eovaldi had a breakout season in 2015, posting a 14-3 record with a 4.20 ERA. Even though his season was cut short by an elbow injury, Eovaldi told WFAN's Mike Francesa that the season was a dream come true.
“Everything was better than I ever expected,” Eovaldi said. “Being part of the Yankees, it’s been wonderful. The fans are amazing. I love pitching at Yankee Stadium. I want to say part of the reason to my biggest success last year was my split. Being able to add that to my repertoire has really helped out.
"You always want to finish the season with the team. Unfortunately, I got injured. But compared to my first half of the season to the second half, I was really pleased with the results.”
2015 was Eovaldi's first season with the Yankees after spending the first four years of his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Miami Marlins.
The 26-year-old also said that he injury hasn't bothered him at all this offseason and started throwing again in December, which is his usual offseason schedule.
