Long before situational hitting and roster micromanagement became such a key facet of the game and the playoffs, in particular, Yogi Berra was one of the first players to make a significant impact in a pinch.
Berra, who died Tuesday night at age 90 (on the 69th anniversary of his Major League debut), became the first player to hit a pinch-hit home run in the World Series when he went yard off the Brooklyn Dodgers' Ralph Branca in Game 3 of the 1947 World Series.
It was just one of a multitude of postseason heroics for the Hall of Famer, who won a remarkable 10 World Series titles, beginning with that first Series in '47.
