Following a trying afternoon in a loss to the Orioles on Wednesday, in which he gave up five earned runs in 1 2/3 innings, right-handed Yankees prospect Chance Adams was re-assigned to Minor League camp on Thursday, the club announced.
The 23-year-old Adams pitched in three outings in big league camp, giving up six earned runs in 4 2/3 innings (11.57 ERA) while struggling with command and a dip in velocity, manager Aaron Boone said.
Adams wasn't expected to be competing for a big league roster spot, but he was thought to be auditioning for the chance to fill in should the club weather injury attrition over the season.
