Yanks' Montgomery to have TJ surgery

The Yankees' rotation took a hit Tuesday, as MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reported that left-hander Jordan Montgomery will need to undergo Tommy John surgery. Montgomery will receive the surgery with team physician Dr. Christopher Ahmad on Thursday at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

The 25-year-old Montgomery has been sidelined since the beginning of May with a flexor strain in his left elbow. The southpaw began the year with a 2-0 record and 3.62 ERA over his first six starts of 2018, one year after placing sixth in American League Rookie of the Year voting when he recorded a 3.
