Yanks jump on Happ early, cruise past Jays

TORONTO -- Brett Gardner and Aaron Judge opened the game with back-to-back homers and the Yankees chased J.A. Happ early, thumping the potential trade target in an 8-5 victory over the Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon at Rogers Centre.

The home runs from Gardner and Judge, plus Brandon Drury's two-run double, padded Luis Severino's pocket with a four-run cushion before he set foot upon the mound. While Severino wasn't at his sharpest, the support helped the probable All-Star notch his Major League-leading 14th victory, matching his career high.
