New York Yankees guest hitting instructor Lee Mazzilli was released after spending two nights in the hospital after being struck in the head by a ball during batting practice Wednesday.
Mazzilli was hurt during a workout at New York's spring training complex at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida, for Yankees players not on the travel roster for a two-day trip to West Palm Beach and Jupiter.
A team spokesman said Thursday that doctors were "just being cautious" with Mazzilli.
Mazzilli played 14 big league seasons, including 10 with the New York Mets and one with the Yankees.
