Yanks hit homer after homer to finally get CC first win

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — It took CC Sabathia until the second week of May to post a victory. For the Yankees’ sake, it better not take that long for the veteran lefty to cop his second.

Backed by rare run support in the form of a season-high five homers, Sabathia cruised past the Rays, 11-5, Monday night in front of an intimate gathering of 10,619 inside Tropicana Field.

Sabathia, who was riding a career-high seven decision losing streak and hadn’t won since April 24, 2014, at Boston, overcame a rocky first inning to log seven frames. He gave up four runs (three earned), six hits and fanned a season-high nine.
