Yanks’ fall from 2nd base superstar to 2nd base misery

OAKLAND, Calif. — As the calendar turns to June, the Yankees’ age is showing already in several ways.

Before Sunday’s desultory 3-0 loss to the A’s at O.co Coliseum, manager Joe Girardi was hustling around the clubhouse checking in with some of his veteran players to see if they were OK with being in the lineup for a day game after a night game.

They said they were.

The results told a different story.

Completely handcuffed by Jesse Chavez on this cool day, the Yankees lost three of four in the series to the lowly A’s.
