Yanks closing in on single-season HR record

ST. PETERSBURG -- The Yankees have closed within five home runs of the all-time single-season record by a club, with Miguel Andujar, Luke Voit and Giancarlo Stanton all going deep in Thursday afternoon's game against the Rays at Tropicana Field.

The trio of big flies increased the Yankees' tally to 259 home runs this season, which is now the third-highest total in MLB history. The 1997 Mariners hold the record with 264. The 2005 Rangers are second with 260.
