The final offensive line for the game looked awful for Carlos Beltran: 0-for-4, two strikeouts, one double-play grounder.
And yet he managed to find the positive.
“It doesn’t matter,” said Beltran of his struggles Sunday night. “As long as we win, that’s what counts. It’s not about me. It’s about the team.”
And so there was plenty for the Yankees to be optimistic about. They had just beaten the Mets 6-4 to complete a 2-1 Subway Series victory. The bullpen was phenomenal. Alex Rodriguez homered. The Yankees found a way to overcome some potentially costly errors, largely through the Mets making costlier errors.
