Cabrera came back up in the third against former Cleveland nemesis Vinnie Pestano, who was trying to escape a self-inflicted third-inning jam after hitting Anthony Gose and walking Kinsler. Cabrera sent a 2-1 fastball over the fence in right-center field and into the bullpen for his first home run.
No other Tiger recorded a base hit until backup catcher Bryan Holaday, entering the game at third base, doubled with one out in the seventh.
