After adding several arms in an active few weeks leading up to this past Tuesday's non-waiver Trade Deadline, the Yankees made another move on Saturday, acquiring veteran reliever George Kontos from the Indians in exchange for cash considerations. Kontos was assigned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
In parts of eight Major League seasons, primarily with the Giants, Kontos is 18-18 with a 3.12 ERA and 286 strikeouts in 349 relief appearances. He pitched in the postseason in two of his five-plus years in San Francisco and was part of the 2012 World Series-winning roster.
