If the Yankees had to lose out on Dallas Keuchel, they hoped to lose big.
That, at least according to GM Brian Cashman.
“When you lose out (in free agency), you hope it’s that you’re blown out of the water,” Cashman said on WFAN, “and not by the hair on your chiny-chin-chin.”
The bearded Keuchel, the last premier free agent on the market, signed a one-year, $13 million contract with the Braves last week. The Yankees had been in play for the former Cy Young Award winner, offering a reported $11.6 million to the lefty who would have helped a rotation that may be in need of another quality starter as the pennant race heats up.
