ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — General manager Brian Cashman said Wednesday he expects the Yankees to be without Gary Sanchez until late August or early September. Sanchez went on the disabled list Tuesday with the same right groin injury that shelved him earlier in the season.
Cashman said he is pleased with Austin Romine and Kyle Higashioka filling in for Sanchez but will keep an eye on the catching trade market, but wasn’t optimistic.
Cashman, however, wasn’t hopeful that he could improve the situation.
“Seeing how other clubs have had to deal with that I recognize it’s a very thin position,’’ Cashman said.
