The BBWAA has left a lot of worthy candidates on the outside looking in to the Baseball Hall of Fame in recent years. Four of them made significant contributions to the Yankees during their career.
The Baseball Hall of Fame gained two new members this week with the election of Ken Griffey Jr. and Mike Piazza. Meanwhile, many other Hall-worthy candidates such as Tim Raines, Jeff Bagwell, and Alan Trammell were snubbed yet again. In the case of the two former players, they'll return to next year's ballot where they will likely gain entrance, but Trammell will now dwell in baseball purgatory until his case is taken up by the Hall of Fame's various committees for past due candidates.
