For the first time in Brian Cashman’s tenure as Yankees general manager, he traded a top 100 prospect in July. That sounds crazy, because if you listened to any Yankees fan on the web, they’d tell you that this is just a long line of Cashman trades where he sent prospects for rentals. But it’s true: as hard as it is to believe, the Yankees actually made a trade where they sent away a consensus top prospect for (relatively) short-term gains.
