OAKLAND, Calif. — A road trip that started so well is looking like a map to Baseball Hell.
With Dellin Betances and Tyler Clippard already having worked and Adam Warren not available, the Yankees turned to Giovanny Gallegos to save a one-run victory Thursday night against the lowly A’s at the Coliseum.
Gallegos retired the first two batters, then gave up two hits and issued an intentional walk before Khris Davis’ bloop single off Starlin Castro’s glove in short center field scored two and carried the A’s to an 8-7 victory before an announced crowd of 21,838.
