The New York Mets had two positive COVID-19 tests on Thursday, subsequently canceling their final game against the Miami Marlins and Friday’s game against the New York Yankees.
As ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports, one player and one staff member tested positive, putting the entire team at risk. However, knowing that the team was in Miami, a hotspot for the virus at the moment, it is possible that the positive cases stem from a foolish act.
Ultimately, if the team is staying together and being safe, this would not have happened. Clearly, something unethical had to occur for them to catch the virus in the first place.
