TAMPA -- Yankees GM Brian Cashman (right) pared his roster again Friday morning by cutting right-hander Luis Cessa, whose candidacy to make the Opening Day roster as the team's 13th pitcher ended due to a lot of spring struggles.
Jonathan Holder and Domingo German, both righties, are the favorite to get the roster spot, which is open only because outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury is a lock to open the season on the disabled list after missing most of the spring with an oblique injury.
The Yankees' roster now has 38 players. They need to get down to 25 before next Thursday's season opener in Toronto and, according to manager Aaron Boone (pictured second from left), the final cuts will be made before the Yankees leave Florida on Sunday night.
