MIAMI — If it dropped any lower, Nathan Eovaldi’s chin would have brushed the Marlins Park grass as he made the Walk of Shame off the mound in the first inning of an embarrassing performance against his former team.
By the time Eovaldi reached the Yankees dugout, first base coach Tony Pena was at the bottom of the steps to offer a pat on the back as Eovaldi disappeared into the tunnel after failing to get out of the opening frame.
Much was made of David Phelps and Eovaldi facing the teams that dealt them for each other last December, and there was nothing riveting about it.
