NEW YORK –The Yankees added a big-name outfielder for their stretch run on Thursday night by acquiring five-time All-Star Andrew McCutchen from the San Francisco Giants for two prospects.
The deal was reported done by Buster Olney of ESPN, but hasn’t been announced yet.
McCutchen, 31, cleared revocable waivers last week and was dealt the day before Friday's Aug. 31 midnight EST trade deadline.
The Giants reportedly are getting two prospects from the Yankees in return.
One will be Scranton/Wilkes-Barre infielder Abiatal Avelino, who has hit .287 with 15 homers and 66 RBI in 123 games this season playing for Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
