TAMPA -- The Yankees won't have Didi Gregorius for a month as their starting shortstop deals with a shoulder strain.
An arthrogram reveled the strain, manager Joe Girardi said Tuesday. The 26-year-old is expected to miss approximately six weeks. Opening Day is April 2.
Manager Joe Girardi said Monday that Gregorius had been diagnosed with hematoma of the subcapsular. He suffered the injury playing for team Netherlands during the World Baseball Classic in an exhibition against the Diamondbacks in Arizona. Gregorius got hurt trying to complete a double play.
Gregorius flew back into Tampa on Monday.
