DETROIT — For the second time in six days, Mother Nature won out.
The Yankees, whose home opener last Monday was postponed because of rain, had their game Sunday night against the Tigers postponed because of a heavy mix of snow and rain.
It was not immediately announced when the teams would make up the game, though the early word is the makeup date will be July 28.
The Yankees are off Monday before starting a three-game series in Toronto Tuesday night against the defending AL East champion Blue Jays. Masahiro Tanaka, slated to start Sunday night’s game against Justin Verlander, is likely to start the first game of the Toronto series, followed by Michael Pineda and Nathan Eovaldi, though the Yankees have not officially disclosed how the postponement will impact the rotation.
