Madison Bumgarner, who is 3-5 with a 4.01 ERA, would be the perfect fit for the Yankees for one enormous reason only: the playoffs.
If the Yanks make the Postseason, they will have a pitcher that has dominated the October.
To put it in perspective, Bumgarner has a career 1.94 Postseason ERA, which is the lowest for a starter in MLB history. Only Mariano Rivera has a lower playoff ERA — with a 0.72 ERA.
Also, he is tied for second in Postseason history with four shutouts, sharing that honor with New York Giants legend Christy Mathewson.
