NEW YORK — The Yankees finally were cooled off on a cool (and rainy) night at Yankee Stadium.
Their eight-game winning streak and amazing 17-1 run, a franchise best since 1953, ended Thursday night with a 5-4 loss to the Boston Red Sox.
As usual, the Yankees put up a good fight, as they overcame a 4-0 deficit with a four-run seventh inning before coming up short.
The Red Sox prevailed on the strength of a tie-breaking homer by J.D. Martinez, who led off the eighth inning with a high-fly homer to right off Yankees reliever Dellin Betances that fly made it over the wall.
