Cameron Maybin is anxiously waiting to pick up where he left off.
Since his third-inning exit from a strained left calf on June 21 against the Astros, Maybin has missed 15 straight games. But he feels on the cusp of a rehab assignment and inching closer to the Yankees’ lineup.
Maybin ran outside for the first time on Saturday, but has been working out on the treadmill over the last week. He and manager Aaron Boone are ready to take his recovery to the next level.
“This week, we’ll start ramping up the baseball activities and obviously today is a big step for him, getting outside and doing some form running and stuff,” Boone said Saturday before the Yankees’ battled the Blue Jays.
