Yankees suffer another injury; relievers swapped

It was only a matter of time before the Yankees made a decision on left-hander Stephen Tarpley. However, the 26-year-old beat the club to the punch when he was diagnosed with a left elbow impingement.

Following 2.1 innings of work that featured four walks and two runs on one hit, Tarpley’s ERA hit a robust 8.24. Although he did strike out four batters across 57 pitches, Tarpley has been horrendous in 16 appearances this season for the Yanks.

With a 2.085 WHIP, 12.4 H/9, 6.4 BB/9 and five home runs allowed in only 19.2 innings pitched, Tarpley needed to go.
