New York Yankees 0 – Detroit Tigers 3
Not much offense to speak of when the Yankees were shutout in their visit to the Detroit Tigers.
Like the Yankees first meeting with the Tigers this spring, a Yankees starter hit a Tigers batter. After Severino hit Maybin in the arm (and fracturing it), Yankees starter Bryan Mitchell hit second baseman Ian Kinsler. A second Tigers batter would get plunked later in the game, making in three in two games.
Beyond the hit batter, Bryan Mitchell pitched well. In two no-hit innings, Mitchell walked one and hit one but struck out two.
