The Yankees have signed 1B/OF Chris Parmelee to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training on Sunday night, according to Parmelee’s Instagram.
Parmelee, 27, is a southern California native taken as the 20th overall pick in the 2006 draft by the Minnesota Twins.
He played last season with the Baltimore Orioles, producing a stat line of .216/.255/.433 in 32 games and .314/.386/.444 in 63 Triple-A games. He’s a career .245/.311/.396 hitter with total 28 home runs, a 7.9% walk rate, and a 23.5% strikeout rate in 1,003 MLB plate appearances.
