Yankees shake up bullpen to begin pivotal road trip

The Yankees reshuffled the backend of their bullpen after Aaron Boone used Stephen Tarpley in two games over the weekend.

Tarpley, who pitched 4.1 innings in the Yankees’ series against Colorado, was sent down to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the team announced. Jonathan Holder was brought up from Scranton in a corresponding move and will be active for Monday’s game at Minnesota.

Holder, who has a 6.81 major league ERA this year in 31 games, provides a fresh arm for the bullpen. He’s been in the minors for nearly a month after struggling through late June. However, he does have a history of solid numbers in the big leagues, with a career 4.
