Sabathia was placed on the 10-day injured list with right knee inflammation, but whether his season — and therefore, his career — is over remains to be seen.
“I don’t know,” manager Aaron Boone said Saturday morning, when asked if the injury could jeopardize Sabathia’s season. “If it responds the way it normally does, then no, I think there’s a realistic chance that he would be back and could even be back pretty shortly. But we’ll just have to see how he responds in these coming days to the shot and to the draining.
