Kaprielian, the Bruins' Friday starter this year, went 10-4 on the season with a 2.03 ERA. In 106 2/3 innings, Kaprielian tallied 114 strikeouts to 33 walks. He pitched for USA Baseball's Collegiate National Team last summer, and in 2013, Kaprielian came out of the bullpen to pitch in the championship series of UCLA's eventual NCAA title win.
The 16th pick marked their highest selection since 1993, and they also own the 30th overall pick, a compensation selection from the White Sox for losing right-hander David Robertson. New York then has the 57th overall pick in the second round.
