OAKLAND, Calif. -- Juan Soto walked up to manager Aaron Boone in the middle of the game and told him the banged-up left knee that kept him out of the lineup was feeling good enough for the slugger to give the New York Yankees one at-bat if a key moment came.

It did in the 10th inning and Soto delivered with an RBI double that helped the Yankees beat the Oakland Athletics 4-2 on Friday night.

"It was great -- showman-like," starter Gerrit Cole said.
