NEW YORK (AP) -- Infielder Brendan Ryan has been activated from the 60-day disabled and played in his first game this season for the New York Yankees, starting at shortstop and batting ninth against the Washington Nationals.
Injured pitcher Ivan Nova made a stop in the Bronx on Wednesday to throw a bullpen before heading to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He will make a rehabilitation start there Saturday in his recovery from Tommy John surgery.
Nova had elbow surgery about 13 months ago. He feels he is close to a return to New York.
