TORONTO — The Yankees’ already depleted outfield took another shot on Saturday, when Billy McKinney — playing in just his second game in the majors — was forced to leave after crashing into the left field wall trying to make a catch against the Blue Jays in the bottom of the first.
The 23-year-old was diagnosed with a shoulder AC sprain, the team announced innings later, though X-rays came back negative.
McKinney was starting in left again because of the intercostal injury that sent Aaron Hicks to the 10-day disabled list on Friday. He was replaced by Brett Gardner, who was supposed to be getting the game off with Aaron Judge in center and Giancarlo Stanton in right.
