Yankees Rumors: Don’t expect to see a trade for Steven Matz anytime soon

With Luis Severino out for the season and James Paxton out until May or June, the Yankees could use some starting pitching help. However, don’t expect them to acquire Matz from the Mets anytime soon.

A deal between the two New York teams makes some sense on paper because of the Yankees need and the Mets abundance of veteran staters. Matz is somewhat expendable because he’s not even guaranteed a spot on the Mets starting staff to open the season following the additions of Rick Porcello and Michael Wacha this offseason.

The Yankees on the other hand technically have two open spots in their rotation although it’s safe to assume that Jordan Montgomery will be the team’s fourth starter.
