It appears that the Yankees did indeed make a formal offer to four-time All-Star, Manny Machado. Scott Thompson of SNY.TV reports that Yankees general manager Brian Cashman and the organization did discuss numbers with Machado. The former Mets general manager, Jim Duquette, discovered what the price tag range was:
“What I was told here recently was the Yankees’ offer — these aren’t out there not necessarily in writing, but hypothetical — was somewhere in that seven-year, eight-year range for $220 million.”
And now we know why Machado hasn’t signed with anyone because apparently, he’s not content with the offers that he’s receiving.
