Yesterday, Chase Headley was held out of the Yankees starting lineup because he was dealing with a calf injury. Gregorio Petit filled in at third base, but the roster doesn't have a long-term solution if Headley needs to miss any significant time. In order to fix that problem for the time being, the Yankees have called up Cole Figueroa from Triple-A and he's already been penciled into today's lineup. In order to get him up, outfielder Taylor Dugas was designated for assignment to clear a space on the 40-man roster and Jose Pirela was optioned to Triple-A to give him a spot on the active roster.
