Yankees’ replacement ace Domingo German suddenly struggling

Replacing an ace couldn’t have been as simple as Domingo German made it seem.

After sliding into the injured Luis Severino’s spot in the rotation, and spending the first third of the season as the surprising star of the Yankees staff, German has now posted his two worst performances of the season in consecutive outings, making his shortest start of the season (3 ²/u2083 innings) in Saturday night’s 5-3 win over the Red Sox.

Less than a week after being tagged for a career-high seven runs and nine hits (four home runs) in Kansas City, German allowed three runs, six hits and two walks, and received his second straight no-decision — following a string of six straight starts with a win.
