On Monday evening 24-year old right-handed reliever Nick Rumbelow was placed on the Triple-A disabled list and will require season-ending Tommy John surgery.
Rumblow departed from Sunday’s RailRiders game in the fifth inning after feeling discomfort in his pitching arm.
This is a tough blow to the young right-hander. Despite making 17 major league bullpen appearances in 2015 as part of the Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre revolving door of relievers, the Yankees were currently in the process of stretching Rumbelow out as a starting pitcher.
