Yankees rehabbing righthander Ivan Nova: ‘I’m ready to go’

Rehabbing righthander Ivan Nova pronounced himself prepared to return to the Yankees after a second minor league assignment later this week.

“I’m ready to go,” said the 6-4 Nova, who had Tommy John surgery in April of 2014. “I feel good. I’ve got a new arm.”

Joe Girardi pumped the brakes on such talk, however, saying he would be evaluated after his next start on Saturday for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Still, Girardi admitted he was “pretty encouraged” after Nova tossed a bullpen session before Wednesday’s game with the Washington Nationals and also pitched in a rehab assignment on Monday.
