The New York Yankees only had three hits on the night, but made the most of them. A home run by Brett Gardner and Lane Adams helped the Yankees defeat the Miami Marlins, 3-2, at Marlins Park.
Nathan Eovaldi threw 5.1 innings, surrendering just one run on seven hits, while striking out three batters in his final start before the season begins. The four relievers that followed gave up just one run on three hits over the final 3.2 innings of the contest.
With the game scoreless in the fourth inning, Gardner came to bat and hit a ball over the right field fence.
